What is Lubunca?
Lubunca is a dialect that is still actively spoken in Turkey and Kurdistan today.
How did this language come about?
This language, which has been spoken since Ottoman times, is still used today to protect existing safe spaces and to create more safe spaces in the face of increasing violence against transgender people in the 1980s.
Lubunca is not a jargon, but a language. It is not possible to use this language in everyday life, the core of the day is “Safe Neighborhood”. The words are accordingly.
So what do we do in the workshop?
In this workshop we learn to speak Lubunca and at the same time we laugh during different activities. Before we finish the workshop, we will do a role play with the themes of this language!

Abla is a pole dancer born in Aachen with a Turkish and German background. After getting introduced to pole dance by her best friend, she was immediately hooked and soon began home- training due to the pandemic. She has no previous dance background but has been consistently training pole dance, spin and static, for almost 4 years. A little over a year ago, she also began her journey as a pole and movement facilitator, teaching at the very studio she started at, and recently also at a new studio in Maastricht. What makes this her favorite activity is the incomparable feeling of flow-state and the abilities of the human body. Dance constantly offers new challenges, discoveries, and emotions and is the best way for her to connect to herself and to
music.
She has experience performing on smaller stages from Aachen to Los Angeles and New York, and also a big stage concert in Amsterdam, for Snoop Dogg. This is just the beginning and she is ready for what’s to come.

JaHa is the sibling duo with Arabic roots from Cologne, who combine their trained singing voices with rap and create a safer space with their music. Jamilah (she/her) and Hadaya (she/they) have been on stage since the ages of seven and four, from cover performances at street festivals to established appearances in Cologne's feminist scene - with their own songs. The siblings are united by their political commitment, which is clearly evident in songs such as "Für meine Leute" from 2023. In 2023, they decided to take the path of creating a safer space with their songs through sensitivity to discrimination, which has had too small a place in the music industry to date. With a lot of stage experience and changing genres, JaHa celebrates a huge success in February 2024: the song "Braune Augen", released in February 2024, can be heard in the film adaptation of the novel "Ellbogen" by Fatma Aydemir and promises to underline the important message of the film.
