The choir was founded about three years ago in Kreuzberg and consists of a core group of 10 singers and almost 20 members in total. They interpret traditional Turkish folk songs and pop, under the direction of queer artist and multi-instrumentalist Emrah Gökmen. The group sees itself as an anti-fascist, queer, and feminist entity. Our songs are an expression of spirituality, love, closeness to nature, homelessness, communality and protest. Our singing, an instrument of human solidarity and healing. Rhythm, the fusion of past and future in the present. Resonance, an emphatic resonance. The choir as a social body, united in the collective feeling of Gurbet / Immigration. The choir interprets Anatolian folk songs and poems.
