What is Lubunca?
Lubunca is a dialect that is still actively spoken in Turkey and Kurdistan today.
How did this language come about?
This language, which has been spoken since Ottoman times, is still used today to protect existing safe spaces and to create more safe spaces in the face of increasing violence against transgender people in the 1980s.
Lubunca is not a jargon, but a language. It is not possible to use this language in everyday life, the core of the day is “Safe Neighborhood”. The words are accordingly.
So what do we do in the workshop?
In this workshop we learn to speak Lubunca and at the same time we laugh during different activities. Before we finish the workshop, we will do a role play with the themes of this language!
