Gaye Su Akyol is a central figure in the music scene in Turkey, combining influences ranging from Western rock to Anatolian music. Her fourth album “Anadolu Ejderi” is an independent DIY project that stands for artistic freedom and resistance to convention. It symbolizes the awakening of a mythological dragon and calls for collective action against evil. Musically, the album crosses genre boundaries and combines Anatolian pop, folk, classical Turkish music and Turkish psychedelic rock with elements of stoner rock, post-punk, jazz and more. It is accompanied by traditional Anatolian instruments and celebrates the power of free expression, especially in a challenging political climate.
