Ekim Zafer Acun (b. 1988, Tunceli) studied Cinema and Television at Roma Tre University and at the University of the Arts London: London College of Communication. As a visual artist, he has participated in numerous exhibitions in London and Istanbul. In 2018, he founded Şokopop, a platform exploring memory, gender, and identity through the lens of Turkey’s popular culture history. Working across documentaries, performances, collages, and video, his practice—grounded in extensive archival research—critically engages with pop culture history from a queer perspective.
