Kudur brought a neglected yet defining repertoire of Turkish pop tunes to unlikely corners of Berlin’s nightlife. Drawing inspiration from Istanbul’s legendary queer nightlife scene, and paying homage to queer icons such as Huysuz Virjin, Kudur infused Berlin’s club culture with a distinctly lubunya touch — a term DJ Şevval Kılıç uses to describe this aesthetic and sensibility. In a diasporic context, Kudur merged these influences to challenge musical hierarchies and redefine what club music could sound like. Beyond DJ sets, Kudur transforms performances into participatory spaces, where camp, memory, and audience interaction reshape the club experience itself.
